Kenita Placide (they/them) is the Founder and Executive Director of the Eastern Caribbean Alliance for Diversity and Equality(ECADE). They served as Outright Action International’s Caribbean Advisor for over 2 years and Executive Director of United and Strong, Inc for ten years, doing HIV and human rights advocacy inclusive of women, youth and LGBTI issues for over 18 years. Their work seeks to remove barriers of patriarchy in LGBT advocacy on a feminist platform. Kenita has worn many hats to bring attention and funding to the smaller islands in the eastern Caribbean and works on a regional and international level to decriminalize anti-LGBTQ colonial laws.
Today, Kenita is still pursuing removing barriers of patriarchy, colonialism, colorism, classism, and sexism in the LGBTQIA+ advocacy movement grounded in racial justice while addressing intersectional issues through a feminist but more so on a womanism platform inclusive of diverse identities.
