Jordan Bennett

Board Member, Caribbean Equality Project

Jordan Bennett (he/him/his) was recently profiled by PRWeek as a leading LGBTQIA+ public relations professional. Bennett brings over 13 years of experience in external affairs and communications to the Board.

Bennett currently serves as the Director of Corporate Communications at American Express, where he plays a pivotal role in advancing the company's enterprise narrative and executive thought leadership platform. He also serves as a communications advisor to the company's Chief Strategy Officer.

Bennett's background reflects a deep commitment to public service and advocacy. He previously served as deputy director of communications for Downstate New York and education to Governor Andrew Cuomo, acting as the governor's chief education spokesperson. Before that, he spearheaded external communications and media relations for New York University's Steinhardt School.

Bennett's impressive career path further includes roles on the rapid response communications team for former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, as associate director of communications for Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, on Capitol Hill for Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), and as a community organizer for Planned Parenthood of Southern New England. He has also provided strategic communications guidance to a portfolio of clients in commercial real estate, construction, and interior design at New York-based public relations and marketing firm, The Berman Group.

A graduate of the University of Connecticut with a B.A. in political science, Bennett's dedication to public service and his proven ability to navigate complex communication landscapes make him a valuable asset to the Caribbean Equality Project. His appointment underscores the organization's commitment to advancing and advocating for LGBTQIA+ voices in New York City.
