JC Carlson (They/Them) joined Queens College in 2004 and has served in various roles shaping and developing student programs. In 2017, JC was offered the opportunity by their college President to represent Queens College on the CUNY Queens LGBTQI+ Consortium - a network of all five Queens-based CUNY schools dedicated to creating events, initiatives, and opportunities for CUNY's LGBTQIA+ students, faculty, and staff in the borough of Queens.
In 2018, JC founded and organized CUNY Pridefest - now in its fifth year, CUNY Pridefest is CUNY's largest celebration of LGBTQIA+ Pride.
With the consortium's expansion into the other four boroughs of New York City, JC now serves as the Associate Director of the CUNY LGBTQIA+ Consortium. Working alongside Dr. Allie Brashears of LaGuardia Community College, JC allocates funding to participating schools, helps these schools shape programs, manages budgets, and develops partnerships. The CUNY LGBTQIA+ Consortium is now comprised of 17 schools in all five boroughs of New York City.
In their favorite role since 2010, JC continues to advise the Queens College Gender, Love and Sexuality Alliance, aka GLASA, a student club at Queens College serving LGBTQIA+ students and allies.
