Co-Founder, Minority Rights Dominica (MiRiDom)

Daryl Anthony Phillip (he/him) was born in Roseau, Dominica, on November 19, 1963. He pursued higher education at the Jamaica School of Art and Crafts (now Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts) in Kingston, Jamaica, from 1984 to 1987. After returning to Dominica, Phillip served as a cultural officer for the Department of Culture from 1988 to 2000.

In 2001, Phillip became a founding member of the Caribbean HIV/AIDS Partnership (CHAP), aiming to support the men who have sex with men (MSM) community with education on HIV prevention. They led the Dominica chapter of CHAP until 2012, focusing on providing essential services and combating stigma.

In 2012, Phillip co-founded Minority Rights Dominica (MiRiDom), advocating for the human rights of LGBT individuals. Through public education and media engagement, MiRiDom challenges discrimination and promotes equality. Phillip played a pivotal role in supporting a legal challenge against laws criminalizing same-sex relations, which led to a landmark ruling by Dominica's High Court in 2024. As president of MiRiDom, Phillip continues to champion visibility and equal rights for the LGBTQ community in Dominica.
