Christina Chala (she/they) is a queer-identified Arab-Latina social justice educator committed to creating transformative educational spaces and experiences. She currently works as the ASAP Career Specialist at CUNY Medgar Evers College. A proud Community College graduate, they earned their B.A. in Women’s Studies with a minor in LGBT Studies from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) and her M.A. in Higher Education/Student Affairs from New York University (NYU). Her research interests include examining the role intersectionality plays in supporting students with multiple community identities, promoting access and excellence for underrepresented and underserved student populations, and best practices for creating safe and healthy community spaces. They currently chair the Outreach Sub-Committee for the CUNY LGBTQI+ Council (@CUNYLGBTQIPlus) and co-chair the Medgar Evers College LGBTQIA+ Faculty/Staff Council.
