AIDS Walk NY 2023 - Team Knowing Matters
Join Caribbean Equality Project - Team Knowing Matters at the 2023 AIDS Walk NY!
On Sunday, May 21, Caribbean Equality Project will proudly participate in AIDS Walk NY, the largest single-day AIDS fundraising event in the world. We will walk to raise awareness of Intro 895, a bill that will ensure accessibility to rapid testing for sexually transmitted infections in all boroughs, prioritizing immigrant communities of color that have higher infection rates. Join us in carnival-inspired apparel, your country colors, or come just as you are. But don’t forget your flags, sunscreen, and hydration, and wear comfortable walking shoes! Register to join CEP’s Team Knowing Matters here: https://gmhc.aidswalkny.org/TeamKnowingMatters
Launched in 2015, Knowing Matters is the Caribbean Equality Project’s Sexual Health and Wellness program, breaking the silence about HIV/AIDS through public education, performing arts, and promoting prevention while offering support and care to the Caribbean LGBTQ+ community living with HIV in New York City. According to a 2018 New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene HIV Epidemiology research, the highest incidences of new diagnoses for HIV among foreign-born New Yorkers were among people born in the Caribbean, including the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Hait, and Guyana.
Your support and generosity will help raise HIV/AIDS awareness in Caribbean communities in NYC and GMHC’s HIV/AIDS outreach programs. Thank you for your kindness and solidarity as we work together to end HIV stigma and discrimination!
